Collect uses DTMF masking technology to enable companies to take card payment over the telephone in a PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant manner.
There are essentially two components, the secure line over which the telephone call with your customer takes place and an online virtual terminal used by your agents during the transaction process.
When using Collect your agent and customer will be able to speak as payment is being taken. Whilst your customer is using their telephone keypad to enter their cards details your agent will be able to see the progress on screen without actually seeing the sixteen digit card number (PAN) or three digit security number (CSV) as these are replaced with XXX.

Agent dials the Collect access number
(usually added as a speed dial or extension)
After onward dialling to the customer the payment screen in the virtual terminal will recognise that a call is taking place and invite the agent to start the transaction process.
Customer enters card details using telephone keypad
During the transaction process your agent can enter the basic details relating to the
order into the payment screen such as customer name, order number and order value before prompting the customer to enter their card details.
If for any reason the customer makes a mistake your agent can reset the field and ask
the customer to try again.
Payment is processed by your payment service provider
When the customer’s card details have been entered your agent selects the process button and payment is authorised within a few seconds. Throughout the whole process
no cardholder data has been seen by your agent or stored on your network.
